Kits for detection of acid-fast bacteria using fluorescence microscopy according to modified Truant method
Fluorescence has been used to detect acid fast bacteria for many years. This method is more sensitive than the Kinyoun method. It takes less time to interpret the results. Auramine-Rhodamine, acid alcohol (0.75% HCl alcohol solution) as a differentiation medium and potassium permanganate as a contrasting dye are used in this method.
