Transforming growth factor ß (TGFß) mediate many cell-cell interactions that occur during embryonic development. Three TGFß have been identified in mammals. TGFß1, TGFß2 and TGFß3 are each synthesized as precursor proteins that are very similar. Each is cleaved to yield a 112 amino acid polypeptide that remains associated with the latent portion of the molecule. This antibody does not cross-react with TGFß1 or TGFß2.
