This antibody reacts with a 31 kDa protein known as cdk5. Cdk-5 is expressed in both cycling and noncycling cells and is present in numerous mammalian tissues. Neuronal and muscle cells contain the highest amount of this protein. Cdk5 activity is involved in terminal differentiation of neurons and muscle cells.
