This antibody reacts with a 23kDa protein, known as TIMP-3. TIMP form tight inhibitory complexes with MMP, which are involved in matrix degradation and in tumor invasiveness and metastasis. TIMP inhibit the proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells.
