This antibody reacts with a 25-27 kDa protein. Protein gene product 9.5 is a ubiquitin C-terminal hydroxylase found in neurons and nerve fibers of central and peripheral nervous system, many neuroendocrinal cells, segments of renal tubules, spermatogonia, Leydig cells of testis and ova. It is present in cellular inclusions and can be a useful neuronal marker and in the studies of neurodegenerative disorders.
